2019: Animal Welfare priorities for the next Australian Government

With a federal election looming in 2019, the RSPCA Australia has released its animal welfare priorities for the next Australian Government, highlighting the lack of federal leadership in animal welfare, an end to live sheep exports, and banning cosmetics testing on animals as key areas for action.

Regardless of which political party forms the incoming Australian Government, Australia needs strong leadership when it comes to animal welfare. Australians care about animals, and the Government must do more to meet community expectations and protect Australian animals.

Read on to find out more about the three areas of action identified by the RSPCA, and ask your local Member to commit to making animal welfare a priority if re-elected.

Read on to find out more about each of these priorities.

Re-establishing the Australian Government’s leadership role in animal welfare

Growing meat exports and phasing-out the live export of sheep for slaughter

Ending animal testing for cosmetic purposes
